About me

Self-taught, I have been a silkworker for nearly 35 years. I find my inspiration in very old decorative styles.

In most of my work I use kilim geometric designs—from those magnificent oriental carpets from Turkey, Iran, Iraq or Central Asia. These motifs have been used for centuries. The same kilim technique of flat tapestry weaving is practised across different continents, notably by Indians in North and South America, the nomad peoples of Central Europe and the Berbers of North Africa.

What I like best is to give free rein to an infinite expression of colour. I use silk satin exclusively for my wall hangings, as it gives the most beautiful highlights. I purchase the silk in complete lengths and then dye it in all sorts of colours and variations. By using geometric forms such as abstract designs of flowers, plants and animals, I am able to transform them into patchwork. I also employ the techniques of appliqué and embroidery.

I live and work in Drôme Provence.
